You're going to come across people in your life who will say all the right words at all the right times. But in the end, it's always their actions you should judge them by. It's actions, not words, that matter. Nicholas Sparks - The Rescue

Family Christmas Parties

Don’t you just love them?

Here I was sitting at my aunt’s house waiting on the party to start.  My sister's somehow managed to weasel their way out of this event (one was working, one left early, the other may not have even known).  Relatives I see once a year are coming in and out the door with their kiddos.  (I unfortunately am missing mine as they are MIA this week).

Everyone is catching up and, thanks to the invention of facebook this doesn’t take long.  The conversation takes a turn that I wasn’t expecting….couponing.  Really? At our Christmas party.  As I text my BFF to kill me and save me from myself the day turns to prayer and food and the couponing stories are over.  I am now thinking this is something I should look into though.

But….the conversation after dinner takes another unsuspecting turn.  My parents, along with the other more mature adults in the room, start talking about all those people who they know who have had heart attacks, lost limbs, or met Jesus this past year.  I start giggling uncontrollably and my cousin, who I love dearly looks at me and tells me to hush.  I reply that I can’t as I am picturing us in 20 to 30 years having the same kinds of conversations as they are while my kids and grandkids sit back and laugh at us.

What a great circle of life. J  Christmas parties…..do you have some great stories?

  1. Our Christmas parties usually turn into hating on people who aren't there. Haha!

  2. Family Christmas parties are always hard for me. I do very much enjoy my present, but I so miss the ones from my past wishing they could see what they started. The joy of watching the little ones like Bry open and respond to his gifts, brings joy to my heart. I know they would all be so proud of each and everyone of us. Merry Christmas

  3. Ha Ha J, I never would imagine y'all doing anything of the sort. ;)

Mama, that is fun, watching the kids. Brysen was adorable playing with that train. And I know that those are gone would be very happy to be there. It's times like those that we miss them most.
